Vintage French Cutlery s/12

This exquisite vintage French cutlery set is silver plated and stamped R&Cie 84, Metal Blanc. The set consists of 12 forks and 12 spoons, all very very beautifully adorned on both sides, very regal. Size: Fork and Spoon L is 22cm. This set is rather grand and weighs 2050 grms!. Postage from France included.

History:
Vintage sets often did not include any knives. Cutlery sets were often given as wedding gifts. To have knives included, met with superstition. Giving the gift of knives, one thought that it would sever the bond between the married couple. That is why you often find sets of boxed bakelite handled knives separately in antique stores.
