History.
A Globe de Mariée was an object made for marriage in many French regions. The day after the wedding, the bride would place her wedding crown inside the globe. It is both a memory of their beautiful day as well as an evolving composition for the married couple, to preserve their wedding souvenirs as well as tell the story of their life together. The woman will continue to decorate throughout her life, depending on the events that will occur: birth, bereavement, widowhood, remarriage….. The bride’s globe was displayed either in the couple’s bedroom or in the living room, on the fireplace for example. It does not specifically belong to a region of France, it was produced almost everywhere in France from 1850 until around 1920-1930’s.
