French Cave à Cigars, Humidifier box

This vintage humidifier Cigar box is made from cherry wood. It is in great condition, and so very well made. Its hinge is made from wood as well, with a brass lock with its original key. I am not sure if it is still in working order. Perhaps someone can tell me how to check that? If not, it still is a lovely item to have on show, or to use for other purposes perhaps.
